LTS has been a leader in the field of intercultural trainer training since 2005, when we launched our 5-day course called
Developing intercultural training skills. The course is aimed at experienced trainers from fields such as language,
communication skills and management training, who want to develop skills to design and deliver intercultural training courses.
Since 2005, we have run more than 70 sessions of the course in Bath, with groups sizes ranging from 4-12, as well as other
sessions elsewhere in Europe. In 2021, we started running an adapted version of the course online. The online version using Zoom
is organised as 8 modules of 3 hours per week, with tasks and short assignments between modules. There is a two week gap between
Modules 7 and 8 to allow more time for the final course design assignment.
In 2009, we started to offer a more advanced course called Designing and Delivering Intercultural Training. This is a follow-up
to Developing Intercultural Training Skills but can also be attended by trainers who have not attended our first course, but who
already have good experience in the intercultural training field, and who would like to share and exchange ideas and experiences
with trainers from different countries, as well as to learn new skills and techniques in intercultural course design and delivery.
This is also a 5-day course, which runs three times a year in Bath for groups of 4 -8. An online version is under development.
Developing intercultural training skills
This course is designed for experienced trainers from fields such as language training, communication skills training and management
training, who wish to learn more about the theory and practice of intercultural training, both to integrate intercultural topics into their
current training and also to deliver their own intercultural training courses. Exchange of experience with other participants is also a
valuable part of the course. By the end of the course, participants will:
• have a good understanding of the key concepts and theories of the intercultural field
• be aware of how culture forms an integral part of international communication
• be able to incorporate intercultural elements into their own areas of training
• be familiar with the main types of intercultural training
• be able to design different types of intercultural training courses
• have experience of using different training techniques, activities and materials for intercultural training
• be familiar with different tools to assess intercultural competence
• be familiar with different ways to evaluate the success of intercultural training
• have ideas to further develop their career in the intercultural field
All participants who complete the course successfully will receive the LTS Certificate in Intercultural training.
As stated above, the course was adapted for online delivery at the start of 2021, and so far two courses have been run successfully.

Designing and Delivering Intercultural Training
This course is suitable for trainers who work in a wide range of areas of education and training. The course was originally designed as
a follow-up to Developing intercultural training skills. It therefore assumes that the participants will already have a good level of
knowledge about the intercultural field, and good experience in the design and delivery of different kinds of intercultural courses. The
course may also be followed by participants who have not attended the first five-day LTS course, but who have similar experience to
those who have. Please contact us if you are unsure about the suitability of your experience. An important element of the course is the chance
to share and exchange ideas and experiences with trainers from different countries. By the end of the course, participants will have:
• an expanded set of skills to design different types of intercultural training courses
• greater experience and skills in using and creating a range of training and learning materials for different kinds of intercultural courses,
taking account of different learning style preferences
• greater experience of different training delivery and facilitation styles and methods
There will be some pre-course reading and tasks. All participants who complete the course successfully will receive an
LTS Certicate of Attendance listing the topics covered.
